December 2009 Newsletter

All Epiphany families are welcome to our Christmas Open House December 13, Sunday afternoon starting at 2:00 PM, the Flores family will host a cookout and Christmas party at their home. Please bring a side dish to share and your own chairs. Meat and drinks will be provided. We will be decorating gingerbread cabins and exchanging small gifts related to outdoor activities. Please have each child bring a wrapped gift ($5.00-$7.00) suitable for a boy or girl.

RSVP to the Flores family at 965-4543 or 965-4542. We need to know how many children are coming with you by Wednesday, December 9th so we can have enough pre-made gingerbread cabins for the kids to decorate.

Looking ahead to 2010:

January 15, 16, and 17 (Friday evening through Sunday morning). We will be camping at Fort Clinch State Park in Fernandina Beach. If you haven’t made reservations, you can still come and enjoy this park. You may want to come up Saturday morning, enjoy the park and spend the night in a nearby motel, or drive home that evening. It is worth the drive. Fort Clinch State Park has an ocean front beach, fishing pier, historic Fort Clinch to explore and wonderful biking. If you are planning to come on this outing, please call Bruce or Sandy Lyon (719-6902) so we know how many to expect. We have reserved two sites and have space for three tents in addition to our camper.

March 6 and 7 (Saturday morning through Sunday afternoon). Canoeing and kayaking on the Suwannee River with tent camping at the Florida Boys Ranch. We will launch about four miles upstream at Fox Trail and go down the river where we will pullout and camp on the Boys Ranch and perhaps continue down the river Sunday morning. Please call Bruce or Sandy Lyon if you are planning to come on this river trip. This trip involves some planning, but is a wonderful opportunity for “real camping”.

April 16, 17, and 18 (Friday evening through Sunday morning) cabin camping at Florida Sheriffs Youth Caruth Camp.
