The outing for this weekend, April 16th to 18th, will be at the Florida Sheriffs Youth Camp at Barberville.  The trip from Lake City is about 120 miles, 2 1/2 hours.

Directions:  Take I-75 South to Exit 358, CR-326.  Turn left and proceed East on CR-326 about 11 miles.  CR-326 curves to the South and dead ends at SR-40.  Turn left and take SR-40 East about 40 miles.  Cross over the St. Johns River and continue to US-17 in Barberville.  Continue East on SR-40 past US-17 to Buckles Road.  There is a Sheriffs Youth Camp sign on the right.  Turn left onto Buckles Road.  Take right fork onto Girl Scout Camp Road (dirt road) then left fork on Youth Camp Lane.  (Map)

The cost is $50 per family.  Accommodations will be rustic cabins.  Bunks are provided but bring your own bedding/sleeping bags, pillows, towels, and toiletries.

We will be having group meals from Saturday breakfast through Sunday breakfast.  We will contribute to Paul for the food.
Bring a supply of snacks and drinks.  Saturday breakfast and lunch may be at restaurants depending on activities.

Activities may include:  (We will have a Friday evening group meeting to finalize plans)

Paddling and nature walks on the property.  Saturday night campfire. Possible air boat rides.

DeLeon Springs State Park is nearby.  There is springs swimming, boating, a sugar mill, and hiking trails.  They also have a "cook it yourself at the table" pancake breakfast which would make a great way to start out Saturday.  We will not be bringing boats but they are available for rental at the park.  We have reservations for 27 people at the Sugarmill Restaurant for 10:30 Saturday.

Ormond Beach, on the Atlantic coast, is about a half hour away if ocean swimming is desired.

We need to know as quickly as possible who will be coming!
